Mediation Services

Attorney Kim Beck has been trained as a mediator by the Ohio Supreme Court and she is now offering mediation services.  She is an inexpensive mediator who can help parties resolve disputes.

The Value of Mediation

Less than 5% of civil cases filed in the US end up in trial.  The vast majority of civil cases are resolved by settlement.  Mediation is so important to the settlement process that many courts order the parties to participate in mediation, including many Courts in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  The parties have to pay for the mediator out-of-pocket, so you want an inexpensive mediator who can still get the job done.

What is Mediation? What does it Look Like?

Mediation involves all parties coming together (either physically or by zoom) and working with a neutral person to try to settle the case.  If the parties cannot settle, that is okay.  The mediator does not make any decisions that bind the parties.

Tips to Prepare for Mediation

  1. Talk to your lawyer about how much it will cost to not settle in mediation.
  2. Tell your lawyer you want an inexpensive mediator who can still get the job done.
  3. Have an honest conversation with your lawyer about the strengths and weaknesses of your case.
  4. Try to keep your head in the game and your heart out of it.
