How Beck Law Center Can Help

If a significant other or ex‑partner causes physical injuries that require medical attention, we can bring a civil lawsuit seeking compensation for:

  • Medical bills and treatment costs
  • Pain and suffering
  • Other proven out‑of‑pocket losses (e.g., therapy, transportation).

What to do now

Get medical care

  • Your health comes first.  Visit urgent care, your doctor, or the ER.  As for copies of all records and discharge notes.

File a police report

  • Report the incident as soon as you can.  Even if time has passed, you can file a report with the police.  Better late than never.  Write down the report number.

Preserve evidence

  • Take photos of injuries and damaged property.
  • Save texts, DMs, emails, voicemails, and social media posts.
  • Note dates, times, locations, and witnesses.

Contact us for a confidential case review

  • We will evaluate your claim, explain your options, and outline next steps.

Key Considerations

  • Emotional/verbal abuse alone: We generally do not take cases based solely on emotional or verbal abuse without physical injury. If physical abuse occurred, we will present accompanying emotional harm as part of your damages.
  • Documentation required: We require either medical treatment records or a police report related to the incident to move forward. If you don’t have them yet, you can still seek medical care now and file a report.

What to Expect

  • Case assessment: Liability, injuries, insurance, and ability to pay.
  • Demand and negotiation: We seek a fair settlement from the responsible party or insurer.
  • Litigation if needed: If negotiations fail, we file suit and prepare for trial.
  • Resolution: Many cases settle; if not, we advocate for you in court.

Time limits apply. Each state has a statute of limitations for bringing a claim. Acting promptly helps preserve evidence and protect your rights.

Safety and support

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For safety planning and confidential support, consider contacting a local domestic violence hotline or the National Domestic Violence Hotline (call, text, or chat online). These services can help with safety plans, shelter referrals, and resources alongside any legal action.
